Digital Fortress - Dan Brown review to follow
Going Clear: Scientology, Hollywood, and the Prison of Belief - Lawrence Wright A book everyone should read
Ender's Game - Orson Scott Card Thank God that's the end(er) of that, now on to some real science fiction, a book about scientology
Shantaram - Gregory David Roberts There are very few books that I can think of that bored me as much as this one did.

For anyone who has spent time backpacking and staying in hostels. This book is like that bloke (usually English)who hangs out all day in the hostel waiting to ambush someone and tell them about how great & adventurous his life has been. All the places he's seen, all the crazy capers he got himself involved in. I don't know how they have seen & done so much when they spend so much time within the four walls of the hostel.

Anyway for anyone who can relate, that is the best way I can sum up the first 100 or so pages of this book.
The Hobbit - J.R.R. Tolkien Pleasantly surprised by this, seeing as I struggled through Lord of The Rings. Needed to keep reminding myself who his intended audience was at the time & the period in which it was written, but on the whole I'm glad I gave it a chance. Enough reason to go back to The Lord of The Rings? Maybe one book at a time & not all 3 together.
The Kite Runner - Khaled Hosseini yeah, not sure if 3 stars is right for this, but there is no 2.5 option. I really like the first part of this up until they fled to America. It went rapidly downhill in my opinion until he returned to Afghanistan, but at that stage the powdered glass coated string that was holding my interest had been cut.
Desperation - Stephen King Would get 4, possibly 5 if it wasn't for a really poor ending
The Shipping News - Annie Proulx It's a bit like a Newfoundland winter, long, and an iceberg floating in Killick-Claw bay, slow, very very slow. Bit dissappointing after "Close Range: Wyoming Stories"
